maternity

I have gotten a request from one on my readers: fashion for expecting mothers :) Pregnant bellies are adorable! And if you got it, flaunt it!

Baby doll shirts are a good way to show off the belly, and it also gives you room to grow. Another advatage to baby doll style, it's forgiving while you loose the extra weight after pregnancy. And after you lose the weight, you could belt it and continue to wear it.

Elastic waist pants are your best friend. I don't think I have to tell you that ;)

As far as foot wear goes, stick with ballet flats or for the winter, flat ankle high boots.

With fancy wear, my favorite look is maxi dresses. They are forgiving, the empire waist still gives you a figure, and they are super cute! Same with the baby doll tees, you can wear it after pregnancy!

Congrats to you cute pregnant ladies!

winter love

That time of year, everyone! Fall/winter fashions are in full swing. Great thing about the fashions, it looks great on EVERYONE! I know what you're thinking.. How can big bulky layers look good on anyone, let alone everyone?

You actually just need to use the same rules for any other outfit.

Cute coats exist. Pea coats and trench coats are my personal favorites. Pea coats are best for apple shapes and banana shapes. They create nice straight lines making you look taller. Perfect for you apples and bananas.

Trench coats are best for pear shapes and hourglass shapes. Puts focus on  your small waist, but leaves room for your curves. Great for pears and hourglasses.

Scarves are also great for every shape. There are so many different ways to wear scarves.  Wearing your scarf long helps make you look taller, and it also doesnt draw too much attention to your top half. So apple shapes and hourglass shapes look better with this style.

Wrapped around your neck adds more attention to your top half, so pear shapes or banana shapes look best with this style.

Boots! I love boots. Ankle boots are very adorable, but on girls who have curvy bottoms it could cut them off and make them look short. Ankle boots look best on apple shapes and banana shapes.

Knee high boots help make you look taller. Not to mention they're sexy. Pear shapes and hourglass shapes look best in this style.

Love the season! Have a great Thanksgiving tomorrow!

love your shape

Alright, here's post number two!

It's important to know your body. Know your weaknesses and your strengths. And any low self esteemers reading this, you can't have one without the other. Everyone has good physical qualities. There is a great quote from one of my most favorite people in the world that I would like to share with you.

"...I think the first real change in women's body image came when JLo turned it butt-style. That was the first time that having a large-scale situation in the back was part of mainstream American beauty. Girls wanted butts now. Men were free to admit that they had always enjoyed them. And then, what felt like moments later, boom - Beyonce brought the leg meat. A back porch and thick muscular thighs were now widely admired. And from that day forward, women embraced their diversity and realized that all shapes and sizes are beautiful...

Ah ha ha. No. I'm totally messing with you. All Beyonce and JLo have done is add to the laundry list of attibutes women must have to qualify as beautiful. Now every girl is expected to have:

Caucasion blue eyes, full Spanish lips, a classic button nose, hairless Asian skin with a California tan, a Jamaican dance hall ass, long Swedish legs, small Japanese feet, the abs of a lesbian gym owner, the hips of a nine-year-old boy, the arms of Michelle Obama, and doll tits.

The person closest to actually achieving this look is Kim Kardashian, who, as we know, was made by Russian scientists to sabotage our athletes. Everyone else is struggling."

- Tina Fey

So, with these wise words in mind, I want to share with you the most common body types and a few quick tricks when dressing these body types.

Pear shaped bodies. The ladies with the birthing hips but the matching bosoms. If you have this body type, be PROUD of your curves! Lots of women wish they had your hips. Nothing makes your hips look better than a great pair of jeans. Skinny jeans or bootcut jeans would look best. To help even out your features, wear eye catching pieces up top. For example, detailed blouses, jackets or cardigans, or even nice jewelary pieces would help draw attention to your top half. Also, since you are bottom heavy, your legs may look shorter. Which is why skinny jeans or bootcut jeans would look better on you. They help lengthen you and make you look taller.

Apple shaped bodies. The ladies with a wider torso and/or the busty ladies. If you have this body type, be proud of your chest! Love your lady lumps. When dressing this body type, I suggest nothing that hugs your torso too tightly. Blouses that float away from your body, like baby doll blouses or wrap blouses, they would be most flattering. To help elongate your torso, I would suggest wearing long necklaces or scarves. Vests, cardigans, or jackets that hit the top of your hip also help lengthen your torso. As far as jeans go, bootcut would help make you look taller.

Banana shaped bodies. The ladies with no curves. If you have this body type, congratulations! You have the model body. But what many woman who wish they look like models don't know, but you would know miss banana body type, it's difficult to dress womanly without the womanly curves. Best way to create curves is to cinch your waist. Belted blouses or dresses give you an hourglass look. You could also get away with many different styles, things low cut, shorter skirts or pants, or even flared pants. You naturally have the tall look, so don't be afraid to show it off.

Hourglass shaped bodies. The ladies who were blessed with proportion. I believe this to be the truly desired body type. Even if you have this shape though, there are still some things that would help you out. With this body type, because youre "hippy", skinny jeans or bootcut jeans will help you look taller. Because you are blessed with a little waist, belt it, or wear wrap shirts, cinched blouses, anything to draw attention to your asset. Also, by drawing attention to your waist, it makes your womanly features more womanly. Just make sure that you add accessories that lengthen your look, like long necklaces, vests or jackets that hit the top of your hip, straight leg or skinny jeans.

I hope these little tips helped out. If there are any sort of requests or questions please comment below.

I'm not sure how to start of this kind of blog.. so I'll just start off by telling you a little about myself.

My name is Maida. I am 21 years old. I have a strong passion for styles. But I have a particular body type that can be hard to dress. So that makes shopping difficult. And I know that MANY woman have this problem! But the I believe the real trick to a good wardrobe is knowing specific styles that suit you and your body. I know my tricks and I like to think that I am knowledgable of what looks good on other body types as well. It was my mother that actually suggested that I started a blog. So here it is!

I think a good start to this blog is the biggest trick in the book. I will be repeating this many times. Ready?

- Know your weaknesses. Emphasize your strengths.

For example, I am short. Very short. I have short stubby legs (which any other short girl knows my pain in jean shopping..). But! I have a thin waist. So by emphasizing my waist, giving me an hourglass figure, it hides my thick short legs and gives the illusion that I am tall and thin.

Now someone who has the opposite problem, they can get away with different styles. For example, someone with long lean legs can really rock a skinny jean. If that same person has a wider waistline, great style they can match the skinny jean with, a flowy girly baby doll tee. It floats off the body, so not to pull focus on any muffin top, but the skinny jean shows off their long legs, making them look tall and thin.

We all want to look the same. We all want to look like barbie. Tall, skinny, and curvy. And the thing is, NOBODY looks like barbie! BUT! There are so many different ways that we can give the illusion like we do look like barbie. So, if you readers like this blog so far, please follow me! Then I can post pictures, maybe some sketches, and I'll definitely give more tips on how to dress well.

Thank you for reading
